Hatyai Cable Car
Hat Yai Cable Car is located in the municipal park along with the Hat Yai Ice Dome, Hat Yai Observatory, Hat Yai White Guan Yin and Phra Phutthamongkol Maharat. It is a steep drive up to the cable car station but you can also go by bus from the Hat Yai Ice Dome. The bus ride prices are:
Thai : Adult – 100 THB, Child – 50 THB
Foreigner : Adult – 200 THB, Child – 100 THB
A round trip on the cable car cost 200 THB connecting only two stations, Phra Buddha Mongkol Maharaj (พระพุทธมงคลมหาราช) and another at Thao Maha Phrom (ท้าวมหาพรหม). You can almost see the next station from one end of it. In a smooth flow, the cable car ride is about 5 minutes. Even on a windy day, the cable car was very smooth. This instills confidence, for I am one that is terribly afraid of heights. However, if you are afraid of the ride, there is still a panoramic view of Songkla and Hat Yai and the coffee in the station cafe is good at the price of 50 THB.
Reaching the other end, just above the Thao Maha Phrom station is like an elephant statue sanctuary.
The other phase of the cable car will be ready (no completion date yet) connecting all the four stations including the Municipality playground and the Hat Yai White Guan Yin statue.
